A red 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer driving northbound on Baldwin Street hit the 18-year-old cyclist, knocking him into the southbound lane, where an oncoming car hit him and kept going. The driver of the red Trailblazer, Israel Diaz of Waterbury, was charged with felony evading responsibility and several motor vehicle charges after he was located by police Monday evening.

Four people including a 7-year-old were injured when a State Police vehicle crashed into another car Sunday afternoon in Waterbury. All four involved were transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury to be treated for minor injuries. The state trooper involved in the crash told State Police that the car in front of him stopped and he wasn't able to stop in time. Both vehicles were heavily damaged. State Police have not said if there will be any charges or citations.

Waterbury Firefighters rescued a woman after she drove off an embankment and became trapped in her car.

According to the Waterbury Police Deputy Chief, the elderly female was driving through the parking lot of a Rite Aid at 1030 Wolcott Road.

The female drove off an embankment and crashed, her car landing on the roof. Firefighters were able to pull her out of the car. She was transported to the hospital with non-live threatening injuries.

Witnesses say that the car may have fell around 60 feet before coming to a rest.

Several people are injured following a serious two-car crash in Waterbury early Sunday morning.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday when two cars collided near the intersection of Cherry Street and North Elm Street in Waterbury.

As many as six people were inside the cars, many of which are listed in critical condition, according to police. Some were taken to Saint Mary's Hospital, others to Waterbury Hospital.

The victims have not been identified.

Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 8 in Waterbury on Friday evening.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. near exits 35 and 36 on the northbound side, according to state police. The highway was shut down while authorities worked to clear the scene.
