A 25-year-old man was killed early Sunday in a two-car crash on I-95 in South Philadelphia that state police said was alcohol-related.

Around 2:55 a.m., a car driven south on I-95 near Broad Street by Gabriel Sanchez, 20, rear-ended one driven by Aaron Carbajal, 25, police said. Carbajal's car hit a barrier; Sanchez's car stopped in the middle lane.

Carbajal, of Philadelphia, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in Sanchez's car was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Neither the passenger nor Sanchez had been wearing a seat belt, police said.

One person was killed when a tractor trailer and dump truck collided on northbound Interstate 95 near Perryville Monday morning, Maryland State Police said.

Traffic was snarled through the area for more than three hours following the accident, but the accident scene was finally cleared shortly after 3 p.m., according to live MDOT highway cameras.

A double fatal accident shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 for several hours early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. near exit 95 and U.S. Highway 70 Business in Smithfield, not far from the Carolina Premium Outlets.

Witnesses say a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck was travelling in the northbound lanes when it crossed the median, turned upside down, and struck a Dodge minivan -- shearing the top off the van.

A tanker truck driver is in critical condition after his truck crashed on Interstate 95 in Mansfield this morning, officials said.

The driver, who has not been identified, was rushed by North Attleborough first responders to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with “substantial injuries,” said the Mansfield Fire Chief.

The vehicle crashed into the median near Exit 6A/B connecting to Interstate 495 at about 5 a.m., causing significant traffic delays along Interstate 95 in Mansfield.

Four people were taken to the hospital after a car exiting Interstate 95 south in Fairfield lost control and struck a gas station and several other cars at the bottom of the ramp, emergency officials said.

Police said the car was taking the exit 24 ramp too quickly and went airborne, slamming into a column at the Cumberland Farms at 975 Kings Highway East and catching fire.

"This is a really horrific scene," said Fairfield police spokesman Lt. James Perez. "The damage is tremendous."

A shuttle bus transporting a group back from a birthday party collided with a car and overturned before dawn Sunday along a highway south of the nation's capital, leaving one person dead and sending 16 others to the hospital, Virginia State Police said.

The bus was headed south on Interstate 95 when witnesses reported seeing a speeding white sedan swerve into the bus's lane. Virginia State Police initially said the bus swerved to avoid the car and then overturned, but later said the two vehicles collided, causing the bus driver to lose control, drive off the road and overturn.

A state trooper is recovering from injuries sustained when his cruiser was struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in Stamford around midnight Tuesday. Police said Trooper Thomas Ehret, 35, had pulled over a car on I-95 southbound and was parked on the right shoulder near exit 8 when a tractor-trailer driving in the opposite direction drifted onto the shoulder and sideswiped the cruiser. The truck, driven by 44-year-old John Sgro, of Columbus, N.J., stopped briefly, then sped back up and fled the scene, police said.

Dozens of people are being treated for injuries and a driver is being held on reckless driving charges after a commercial passenger bus headed from New York to Doraville, Ga. overturned on Interstate 95 in Stafford County this morning.

The accident occurred around 4 a.m. Monday in the southbound lanes near the 137-mile marker between Stafford and Fredericksburg. All southbound lanes were closed and traffic was being detoured off the interstate. All lanes were re-opened by 9 a. m.

Two people were injured, one seriously, when a tractor trailer and a passenger car crashed on I-95 Sunday night, flipping the 18-wheeler on its side and setting it on fire. All southbound lanes of I-95 were closed in the area of Brooklyn Bridge Road in Laurel, near the Howard County-Prince George's County line, according to police. Two patients were transported for treatment, one to a local hospital with minor injuries, one to a trauma center with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The tractor trailer was carrying produce, police said.

A driver suffered serious injuries Thursday morning in a crash between a log truck and a pickup truck on Interstate 95 southbound, according to Nassau County Fire Rescue.

The crash happened about 8 a.m., just south of the Georgia border.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 27-year-old Stephen Fanning was driving his pickup in the center lane heading toward U.S. Highway 17 when he changed lanes into the right lane to pass a vehicle. Troopers said he underestimated the speed of the log truck and struck the rear of it.
