New York, NYIt was about 5:30 p.m. when a routine traffic stop was underway on the Thruway, and the trooper at the scene attempted to take the driver, 37-year-old Bernell Wright of Bronx, NY, into custody for suspected drug possession when Wright resisted arrest and then ran from the scene. Wright ran into the northbound lanes and was struck by a vehicle driven by Martin Nicoll of Roselle, New Jersey.
