At about 7:09 p.m. Thomas Joseph Coady of Gainesville was driving his motorcycle eastbound on Eighth Avenue when he allegedly ran the red light and hit the passenger side of a pickup driven by Tolar Powell, 62. Powell was not injured. Coady, and a passenger on his motorcycle, Halie Lynn Guelfi, 22, of Gainesville, were taken to UF Health Shands Hospital, where they later died. Both Coady and Guelfi are University of Florida students.
