Jackie Lee Blanding was walking home on Anderson Drive when he was struck by Jon Daughenbaugh who was driving a pickup truck. He was declared dead at the scene. Daughenbaugh did not realize he had hit someone until he got home and saw the damage on his vehicle and heard sirens. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time. More information as it is available.

Jason Yeargin, 33, charged with DUI hit-and-run death of a pedestrian Varick Scott Kimbrell, 43, in Anderson County, South Carolina

The victim was walking east on State 86 in Anderson County at about 8 p.m. Tuesday when a pickup truck veered off the side of the road, hit Varick Scott Kimbrell, 43, and collided with a fence. The pickup then left the scene of the accident, but a witness was able to get the truck's tag number, and the driver was identified as Jason Yeargin of Piedmont. Yeargin was charged with felony DUI and hit and run involving death.

An investigation into a fatal wreck is underway after troopers said a pickup struck a pedestrian who was lying in the road.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the wreck happened around 2:00 p.m. Friday on Docheno Road, about two miles outside Belton.

Troopers said Jack Oates, 67, of Piedmont, was driving a pickup when the vehicle struck a person who was already on the ground. Investigators said the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing.

So far, no charges have been filed.

John Hammond, 53, killed in moped accident on Beech Springs Road in Pelzer, South Carolina

A man on a moped was struck and killed while crossing the road Friday night, according to the Greenville County coroner. According to Fowler, the man was treated by EMS and fire crews at the scene. The man was then transported to Greenville Memorial Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead, said Fowler. According to Fowler, the man was identified as John Hammond, 53, of Pelzer. The accident is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol website, one person is dead after a single-car crash in Piedmont.

Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 3:15 a.m. Saturday on Bessie Road near South Piedmont Highway.
