37-year-old Darlene Farmer was driving a pickup truck to the west on Highway 8, when she entered oncoming lane to pass another westbound vehicle, but instead collided head-on with an eastbound pickup truck driven by Barry Hanks, 57, at about 8:30 a.m. Another vehicle, driven by Danielle King, 23, then crashed into the already-wreck pickup trucks. Hanks was killed in the accident, while Farmer had to be airlifted to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. King did not sustain any major injuries and was not hospitalized.
