Columbus, OHAt 2:39 a.m., a Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Jason Wooley, 37, was traveling southbound on Route 41 in Jefferson Township, Ohio, when he collided with a tractor-trailer that was pulling out of the Flying J truck stop on Route 41. Wooley and his passenger, William Rankin, 26, were trapped inside the smashed vehicle. Rankin was pronounced deceased at the Adena Medical Center. Wooley was transported to the Miami Valley Medical Center. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

Columbus, OHIt was about 7:39am when a car driven by Rohde drifted into the oncoming lane of US 22 NW and collided with a dump truck driven by James M. Taylor, 31. Police believe that a combination of the below-freezing temperatures and blowing snow that were present at the time contributed to Rohde losing control. Taylor was uninjured in the crash, but Rohde was declared dead at the scene.
