10-year-old Chad Andrews was driving a miniature dirt bike west on 20th Street East, but failed to stop at the stop sign at 2nd Avenue East and drove right into the side of a southbound Honda motorcycle driven by Daniel Kendrick, 43. Andrews was thrown from his bike and critically injured; he remains in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center. Kendrick and his passenger Tameashia Robinson, 31, both sustained serious injuries and were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital. None of the people involved were wearing helmets at the time.

A toddler died and an infant injured when a woman allegedly driving drunk with twelve people in an SUV crashed on I-75 in Manatee County on Saturday. Shameka L. Jones, 24, was the driver of a Ford Expedition on I-75 at 5 p.m. when she swerved onto the shoulder. The SUV rolled multiple times and crashed into trees. Three adults and nine children were in the vehicle, and none of the children were in car seats. Isaac Solomon, 2, was pronounced deceased at South Bay Hospital, and Issah Solomon, 6 months old, was transported to All Children's Hospital with serious injuries.

According to investigators, Rona S. Ramnarine of Miami was driving north in a Chrysler on Interstate 75 at about 4:37 Sunday morning when she rear-ended a GMC Terrain while nearing the County Road 6/Moccasin Wallow Road exit. The rear-ended SUV then ran off the roadway and overturned onto its roof, killing its driver, Derrell Scruggs, 68, and injuring Naomi Scruggs, 69, who was transported to Blake Medical Center. Ramnarine had three children in her vehicle, ages 5, 3, and 1, all of whom were injured and transported to Lakewood Ranch Hospital.
