Norwich police say nine children suffered minor injuries when a Jeep driven by an off-duty city police officer crashed with a school bus. Police say the Jeep driven by Daniel Collins of Colchester crossed the double-yellow line on Asylum Street Thursday morning and sideswiped the bus, which had 25 students aboard. The nine injured students were taken to a local hospital, where they were treated and released. Police say they are investigating and claim sun glare may have been a contributing factor in the accident. The bus was heading north, the Jeep was southbound.

A 22-year-old Uncasville man was killed in a crash on on Route 354 in Colchester and he road will be closed until noon as police investigate. Police have identified the man as Charles Malloy, of Gay Hill Road in Uncasville. He lost control of a Chevy Silverado around 2:30 a.m., went off the road and hit a Connecticut Light & Power pole, severing it in half, police said. Malloy's car rolled over and landed on the hood. Power lines are running across Route 354, or Parum Road, and it is closed near Macklyn Drive.

A 26-year-old Rhode Island woman has died after crashing into a school bus in Stonington, police said. It happened just before 7:30 a.m. Monday, police said. According to police, Sarah Delano of Westerly, R.I., was driving westbound on Pequot Trail in Stonington when her car crossed the center line and collided with a school bus driving in the opposite direction. Delano died at the scene. Police said no passengers were aboard the bus at the time of the crash. It’s not clear if the driver, 69-year-old Jane Toth of Pawcatuck, was injured.
