New York, NYA 49-year-old man was hit and killed as he tried to cross the Major Deegan Expy. near Yankee Stadium early Sunday morning, police said.
Darnell Carter, a native of Melrose, was hit as he tried to cross the divider from the northbound lane to the southbound lane near exit 5 at 12:27 a.m., police said.
Carter was hit by a Toyota Rav 4 that was heading South on the busy highway. The driver stayed on scene and there was no apparent criminality, police said.

New York, NYA 76-year-old man was fatally hit by two vehicles as he crossed a Washington Heights street Friday evening, cops said.
Antonio Escanio was crossing Amsterdam Ave. near his apartment inside the Dunwell Plaza senior home at 1920 Amsterdam Ave. at 5:51 p.m. when he was struck by a white 2009 Toyota SUV traveling south on Amsterdam.
The impact sent Escanio into the northbound lane, where a 2012 Chevy Malibu hit him. He was rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, where he died. Both drivers stayed at scene.

New York, NYA man working on an elevator in a Park Avenue building fell to his death Wednesday, according to a police source.
The man, believed to be a building super or maintenance worker, was found in the elevator shaft at 331 Park Avenue South.
The death is not considered suspicious but police are still investigating.

New York, NYA person was killed by a Brooklyn-bound L train in Canarsie on Friday night, according to a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The person wound up on the tracks and was crushed underneath the train as it rumbled into the station at E. 105th St. in Canarsie shortly after 6:30 p.m., the spokeswoman said.
Police are investigating how the person came to be on the tracks.

New York, NYA man was arrested for striking and killing a 65-year-old pedestrian in Harlem Sunday morning, police said.
Officials said the man, Prince Julien, 23, struck Willie Zachary while he was trying to cross St. Nicholas Avenue between 131st and 132nd streets at around 10 a.m. Zachary was pronounced dead at the scene.
Julien has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving while impaired by alcohol, police said.
Information on a lawyer for Julien was not immediately available.
