Tampa-St. Petersburg, FLAccording to police, Walter Washburn was headed south in a 2008 Chevy Aveo on Frontage Road after 2 p.m. when the vehicle hit a billboard sign on the passenger side, then traveled across Frontage Road and went into a ditch, where it hit a culvert. Both occupants of the vehicle were taken by air to trauma centers for treatment. Both Washburn, 93, and his passenger, Ruth Washburn, 83, of Wesley Chapel, later died from their injuries.
