Minneapolis-St. Paul, MNA 63-year-old man from Shafer, Minn., died in a snowmobile accident on Saturday, according to the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office.
Dennis Holt was killed as he moved a snowmobile on private property about 11:20 a.m. near Shafer, in Franconia Township. The snowmobile accelerated rapidly, striking a car-hauling trailer parked nearby, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Holt was not familiar with the snowmobile, which was different from most because a lefthanded throttle had been installed. That appears to have contributed to the accident, the Sheriff’s Office said.

New York, NYPolice are searching for the driver a black four-door sedan who struck and killed a 51-year-old man in Brooklyn Saturday night and fled the scene.
According to authorities the man was crossing Eastern Parkway in Brownsville at around 9:30 p.m. when the sedan, which was heading west, crashed into him.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver fled before authorities arrived.
Police are attempting to notify family before releasing the identity of the the man who was killed.

Indianapolis, INIndianapolis Metropolitan Police are looking for a vehicle they say struck a woman on the Far Southside and then took off, leaving her in critical condition.
Police say the incident happened at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, when Cindy Urich was struck by an SUV in the 5700 block of South Franklin Road.
Urich was taken to an area hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Police are looking for a black 4-door Toyota Corolla, model 2009 or newer, with Indiana license plate FW2353.

Friday, December 20, 2013A skateboarder was hurt in a crash with a sport utility vehicle Saturday.
Authorities with the Burlington Police Department said the crash happened just before 6 p.m. on Maple and Quintas avenues.
Investigators said Christopher McKean, 23, of Burlington, was riding a skateboard on Maple Avenue when the SUV being driven by Bobby Westbrook, 68, of Burlington, attempted to turn right onto Maple Avenue and struck the victim.
McKean was taken to University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill for treatment. He was listed in stable condition.

Kansas City, MOThe icy roads are being blamed for a crash that killed an unidentified man in Kansas City, North. The man died shortly before 4 p.m. in a one-vehicle accident near the intersection of Missouri 152 and North Indiana Avenue. Police said they would not identify the driver until they had notified his family.

Houston, TXA man crossing the road in northwest victim becomes the victim of a hit and run driver early Saturday morning.
Houston police arrived on the scene at Airline and East Whitney just after 12:30 a.m.
They said the victim was hit by a dark colored vehicle headed southbound on airline.
Instead of stopping to help, the driver took off.
The victim was rushed to Ben Taub hospital in serious but stable condition.
Detectives said they are looking for a car with damaged to the driver's side hood area.

Cincinnati, OHSeveral people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in North Bend Saturday.
Police said this happened on U.S. 50 near Dubber's Drive-Through shortly before noon.
According to police, four vehicles were involved and at least two people were trapped in their cars.
Police have not said how many were taken to the hospital or what caused the crash.

Hartford & New Haven, CTA Berlin woman charged with drunk driving faces more charges after the death of a pedestrian she allegedly hit with her car Saturday night.
60-year-old Debra Bailey stopped at the scene on High Road in Berlin but police say she left after firefighters arrived to tend to 36-year-old Eber Perez. Police found Bailey at her home.
Without a blood alcohol test police can still charge someone with drunk driving based on the answers to certain questions.

Milwaukee, WIA driver traveled the wrong way for 2.3 miles on Interstate 794 over the Hoan Bridge early Saturday until he crashed into a three-foot median wall just north of Carferry Drive, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said Saturday.
Deputies said that after Edward Deshazer of Cudahy drove a 2007 white Ford Expedition onto I-794 at Lincoln Memorial Drive multiple squads responded to a call that came in about 2 a.m. from a construction worker.
Deshazer was cited for driving while intoxicated, a first offense, and recklessly endangering safety, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.

Friday, December 20, 2013An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was hit and killed.
According to the Greenville County Coroner's Office, just before 6:45 Saturday evening, 39-year-old Lamont Turner was struck by a vehicle on North Pleasantburg Drive near Worley Road.
Turner was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy is set for Monday to determine a cause of death.
