Wednesday, March 4, 2015A three car accident in Oakland lead to a shooting that sent one man to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. The accident occured on Interstate 580 west of the Broadway exit at 3:20 PM. Two lanes of the road were closed while investigators worked the scene. A person of interest was detained at the site of the accident after police arrived. While police state that they know the gunshot did not come from inside of the vehicle, they are unsure whether the shot came from another vehicle on the freeway or from somewhere alongside the road.

Thursday, January 1, 2015A woman died in a drunk driving accident on New Year's Day was identified Friday as 20-year-old Kayla Turner from San Jose. Turner, a passenger in a 2009 Toyota Scion, died at about 3:20 a.m. after a crash on east Interstate 580 near High Street. The driver Travis Maresca, 20, of Livermore, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pole. Maresca was arrested and booked at San Rita Jail in Dublin on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, vehicular manslaughter and voluntary manslaughter.
