A man was critically injured when a vehicle struck him in San Francisco’s Oceanview neighborhood on Monday night, a police spokesman said Tuesday.

The collision was reported at 9:12 p.m. at Alemany Boulevard and Brotherhood Way.

The 47-year-old victim and his brother were walking south in a crosswalk when a driver traveling west on Brotherhood Way struck him, police spokesman Sgt. Eric O’Neal said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for a life-threatening head injury, O’Neal said.

A teenage girl died and another was injured in a high-speed wreck on an isolated street near the Port of Oakland early Friday morning, an area known for illegal street racing. Police officers responding to reports of an accident just after midnight on the 500 block of Maritime Street found that a vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a pole, officials said. The girls in the vehicle, both 17-year-olds from outside Oakland, were taken to a hospital, where the driver, who has been identified as Kaitlyn Benson, was later pronounced dead.

A motorcyclist was killed Friday morning in a possible hit-and-run collision on westbound Interstate Highway 580 in West Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol. The two left lanes of westbound I-580, just east of I-80, are blocked due to the collision, according to the CHP. The CHP received a report of the incident at 6:23 a.m. and a Sigalert was issued at 6:43 a.m., the CHP said. The motorcyclist has been identified as an adult male, but his name has not yet been released pending notification of his next of kin.

A bicyclist was hospitalized after being hit by a tow truck in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood Wednesday evening.

The collision happened at about 5 p.m. at Seventh and Folsom streets.

The female bicyclist was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, a police officer at the scene said.

He said he did not have information on the bicyclist's condition.

Police blocked off Seventh Street between Folsom and Harrison streets and Folsom Street between Eighth and Sixth streets.

A pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing Van Ness Avenue Tuesday night. There are seven lanes of traffic and police say a man was struck outside the crosswalk on Van Ness, near Grove Street, by a driver who had no time to react. It happened just before 7 p.m.

San Francisco police, with the collision investigation unit, stated that the victim was a 38-year-old man. Witnesses told investigators the victim had been in some sort of verbal altercation with another man earlier, but police told us they do not believe that played a role in the victim's death.

A large dump truck lost control on a hilly San Francisco street Monday morning and rolled over onto a parked car, authorities said.

The collision occurred about 9:15 a.m. at 23rd and Castro Streets in the city’s Noe Valley neighborhood.

There were no injuries reported and just the one parked car was damaged.

Police were still investigating what caused the truck to overturn.

A 21-year-old San Carlos man died early Sunday in a car crash on Interstate 280 in Palo Alto, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Julian Ali Thomas was heading north on I-280 near Page Mill Road at about 4 a.m. when his car collided with another vehicle, killing him and sending another person to the hospital with minor injuries.

The cars were a four-door BMW and a four-door Nissan, but officers did not know which car Thomas was in or what caused the collision. The investigation is ongoing.

An intersection along San Francisco’s Embarcadero was reopened after a Muni light-rail train smashed into a big rig, sending four people to the hospital with minor injuries, according to police and fire personnel.

Police said the crash between the Muni F-line trolley and a big rig was reported around 12:45 p.m. on the Embarcadero near Bay Street.

Four people were sent to area hospitals to be treated for minor injuries suffered in the crash, which slowed traffic around the intersection for more than an hour, according to fire and police personnel.

A fatal pedestrian accident continues to block all but one southbound lane of I-280 near John Daly Boulevard in Daly City this morning..

Early this morning, a GMC SUV and Honda Civic collided on NB I-280. After the accident, a man in the GMC grabbed a duffel bag and tried to cross southbound lanes where he was fatally struck.

The driver of the Honda was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

A Novato woman was killed and a man was injured when they were struck and run over by a dump truck in a San Rafael crosswalk early Friday afternoon, police said.

At 12:17 p.m., the couple was walking west on the south side of Third Street and was crossing Hetherton Street in a crosswalk when a loaded dump truck traveling west on Third Street turned left onto Hetherton and struck them, a San Rafael police spokeswoman Margo said.

The woman, identified as 67-year-old Olga Rodriguez, died at the scene and the man was taken to Marin General Hospital with major injuries.
