Whatcom County District Court

Washington State district and municipal courts may consider civil and criminal matters related to misdemeanor criminal cases, traffic, non-traffic, and parking infractions, domestic violence protection orders, civil actions of $75,000 or less, and small claims up to $5,000.

Whatcom County Bar Association

The Whatcom County Bar Association (WCBA) draws its members from the legal community in and around Bellingham, Washington. WCBA exists to promote the administration of justice, to cultivate goodwill among its members and the community, and to support the continuing education goals of its members.

LAW Advocates

Legal Assistance by Whatcom (LAW) Advocates is a non-profit organization which interviews and refers eligible low-income Whatcom County residents to a panel of local attorneys, who volunteer their time to provide free or low cost civil legal help. A family law staff attorney provides help in domestic violence cases. Interpreter services are available on site.

Whatcom County Public Works Department

The largest of Whatcom County departments, Public Works' primary objective is to maintain the integrity of the Whatcom County Road System in an efficient, cost effective manner that provides safe travel for the public. This is accomplished through the work of several  divisions: Engineering, Equipment Services, and Maintenance and Operations. Public Works also provides year-round ferry service to Lummi Island.

Whitman County Prosecuting Attorney

The Prosecuting Attorney's Office prosecutes all criminal matters for the County, serve as legal advisor to County departments and officials, represent the County in lawsuits, helps determine restitution in appropriate criminal cases, and prosecutes all misdemeanors for cities and towns within the County. The office also administers the Child Support and Victim/Witness Assistance programs and Washington State paternity cases.

Whitman County Superior Court

Whitman County Superior Court will actively manage the business of the court so as to provide the fair, prompt and understandable resolution of legal disputes. The court will provide access to justice for all citizens, and will treat participants professionally, impartially, and with respect.
