LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center

About 60 percent of the world uses some version of civil law; about 40 percent relies on a form of common law. LSU Law gives its students extensive study in both common and civil law.  All LSU Law graduates receive a Juris Doctor and students may also earn the optional Graduate Diploma in Comparative Law in recognition of extensive, optional coursework in the civil law. LSU Law Center’s curriculum requires six semesters.  An optional summer school is also available. Many students choose to spend summers studying in LSU Law’s program in Lyon, France. Because of the constant presence of two law systems, a comparative environment and an international flavor characterize the campus.

The Pro Bono Project - Louisiana

The Pro Bono Project’s continuing mission is to provide free, quality civil legal services to the underserved members of our community. Our work today is as important as at any time in our twenty-seven year history.  By engaging volunteer attorneys, paralegals, law students, and private citizens to render pro bono services, The Pro Bono Project serves clients in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, and Washington parishes who otherwise might not have access to the civil legal help they need.

Motor vehicle accidents are a constant occurrence in Orlando, Daytona Beach, Melbourne, and across the region. Many crashes are completely avoidable, caused by drunk drivers or distracted drivers. Whatever the cause, car accidents are a major safety and economic issue for the communities in this vast region.

Louisiana Judicial Branch - Court System

The judicial branch's power is vested in a Supreme Court, courts of appeal, district courts, and other courts including family courts, parish courts, and justice of the peace courts.  The judicial branch is responsible for administering the laws of the state and resolving legal conflicts. It includes the court system, comprising of Family and Juvenile Courts, the Clerk of Court, District Courts, District Attorneys, the Sheriff's office, coroners, Circuit Courts, Courts of Appeal, and the Louisiana Supreme Court.  

Maine State Bar Association

MSBA is a voluntary association that serves as an advocate for lawyers, the courts, and the public. A professional and public service organization of more than 3,100 member lawyers licensed to practice in Maine, the Maine State Bar Association works to promote its members' professionalism and advance their skills and knowledge, helping them meet the legal needs of all Maine people, and to advance Maine's system of justice.
