Portland, ORWashington State Patrol says speed and intoxicants were factors in a crash on Interstate 5 Sunday night in Vancouver. Kevin W. Smith, 52, of Kelso was reportedly driving south on Interstate 5 about 6 p.m. in a 2002 Chrysler Sebring when he rear-ended a Honda Accord near Northeast 134th Street, according to state patrol. A juvenile passenger in the Accord was injured and transported to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. The passenger’s name was not released and her condition is unknown. Smith was also injured and taken to Legacy Salmon Creek.

Thursday, December 26, 2013A man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Santa Rosa Friday evening after allegedly causing a five-car crash that left three people injured, police said Saturday.
Police said the collision occurred around 5:15 p.m., when a Toyota Tacoma speeding down Hoen Avenue toward Yulupa Avenue rear-ended a car stopped at a red light.
The force of the crash caused three more cars stopped at the light to collide, causing major damage to each of the cars and leaving three drivers with minor injuries, police said.
One of the drivers was taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Philadelphia, PAPolice say a Clayton man was drunk and speeding when he lost control of his car and crashed into a retention pond in New Castle, Delaware.
The crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Friday. New Castle County police say the driver, 41-year-old Robert Blisard, hit the rear bumper of another vehicle, causing him to lose control of his car and crash into the pond located off the east bound lanes of Commons Boulevard near Reads Way.
The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger in Blisard’s car were treated for minor injuries.

Wednesday, December 11, 2013A motorist who rear-ended and killed another driver on Interstate 580 in Livermore on Thursday was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter, authorities said.
The collision happened shortly after 10 a.m., when Primitivo Garcia, 53, of Livermore failed to slow his Hummer for traffic and rear-ended a Jeep, causing the Jeep to burst into flames in the westbound lanes near North Livermore Avenue, said the CHP.

Philadelphia, PATwo separate crashes left police officers in two different counties hospitalized. And in both cases, the drivers were possible intoxicated.
The first wreck left a Bensalem police officer hurt after her police cruiser was hit by a van on Sunday night in Lower Southampton Township.
Lower Southampton police confirmed to NBC10 that the officer was involved in the crash at Brownsville and Old Street Road around 7:30 p.m.
The officer was taken to Aria Torresdale hospital with neck and back pain.
