A man has died after he lost control of his car in Greenville County Wednesday morning, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers. The wreck happened at 4:45 a.m. on Fork Shoals Road near McKelvey Road, troopers said. The Greenville County coroner identified the man as 27-year-old Aaron Robert Carlberg of Simpsonville. The coroner said Carlberg was not wearing his seat belt when his car left the roadway and went up an embankment before hitting several trees. The vehicle overturned and Carlberg was partially ejected.

A mother has been charged with driving under the influence after her two young children were killed in a car crash, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Troopers said Melissa Patton, 32, is charged with two counts of felony driving under the influence and driving under suspension. According to troopers, Patton was driving a car at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday on Wells Highway when the car traveled off the road, hit a church sign and overturned.

A Greenville woman was hit and killed on Wade Hampton Boulevard late Wednesday night, authorities said. Angela Bright, 55, of 2413 Wade Hampton Blvd., died of blunt force trauma about 30 minutes after she was hit, said Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans. Bright was attempting to cross the road at 2420 Wade Hampton Blvd. when she was hit in the northbound lane by a 1982 Honda at 8:45 p.m., said a state trooper. She was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital where she died, he said.

A woman has died after being hit by two vehicles, according to the Greenville County coroner. Troopers said the incident happened on White Horse Road at Old White Horse Road at 2:18 a.m. Adrian S. Smith, 27, died at the scene from blunt force trauma to the chest.

North Charleston police have arrested and charged 25-year-old Kevin Larone Ivery in connection with the death of 71-year-old Barbara Ann Wisdom, a nun from New York. According to police, Wisdom was struck by Ivery’s car at the corner of Dorchester and Ashley Phosphate Road. Ivery, of Peppercorn Lane, has a long history with breaking the law. In Monday's night's incident, he is charged as a habitual offender and driving under suspension. His bond was set at $50,000 on Tuesday. Additional charges may be added after the investigation is complete.

An 18-wheeler hit and killed a little boy as he rode a dirt bike his parents gave him for Christmas. Seven-year-old Tristan Mericle died after a tractor-trailer struck him Tuesday evening. Troopers and say the seven-year-old was riding a dirt bike in his front yard and drove onto Highway 97, right into the path of the big rig, as he tried to turn the bike around.

The Cherokee County Coroner said a 50-year-old Union woman was killed in a single vehicle collision near Gaffney on New Years Eve. Fowler identified the victim as Ruth Ann Allman Magner of 167 Magner Drive. "Mrs. Magner was traveling south on South Carolina Highway 18 when she lost control of the 2008 Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck she was driving at 8:08 p.m Tuesday near the intersection of Dawkins Road. The truck ran off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment and struck a tree on the driver's side. Mrs. Magner was pronounced dead at the scene," Fowler said.

A husband and wife are dead after a three-vehicle accident near Simpsonville Monday night, according to the Highway Patrol and Greenville County Coroner’s Office. Leanna Carolina Turner, 23, and her husband Samad Fard Muhammad Turner, 30, were killed after their vehicle collided with a pick-up truck head-on on Fairview Road around 10:40 p.m. Samad Turner was the driver, and Leanna Turner was the passenger in the 2008 Nissan. Both were wearing seatbelts, according to the Greenville County Coroner.

A former University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse goalie was killed in a rollover crash in Willington yesterday, according to police. Police said 24-year-old Brittney Testa, of Bridgewater, Vt., was driving northbound on River Road near Baxter Road when she lost control of her Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep rolled over onto the northbound shoulder, and Testa was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Police documents show Testa was not wearing a seatbelt.

A single-vehicle wreck killed one person on Christmas Day. South Carolina Highway Patrol said a motorist died after a crash on S.C. 66 just after 6 p.m. Wednesday. Troopers said a pickup truck ran off the right side of the road, hit a sign and a guide wire, overturned and hit a tree. Authorities said the crash trapped the driver. The driver was removed from the car, taken to Laurens County Medical Center and pronounced dead. The coroner has not released the victim’s identity.
