17-year-old Hayleigh Borton is in critical condition after a car crash in Lowell Township Wednesday morning. It happened in the 11000 block of 36th Street SE. According to police, 18-year-old Alexandra Tremblay was driving a Ford Taurus west on 36th Street when she tried to avoid a pickup truck that had stopped on the road to help a driver who had gone into a ditch. Tremblay was not injured, but the girl in the front passenger seat was seriously injured. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

81-year-old Harold Short of Farwell died in a two-vehicle crash in Clare County's Surrey Township. A woman from Mount Pleasant died after her SUV crashed on a road in Montcalm County. Adeanna Marie Sexton, 31, was driving north on Wyman Road near Lake Montcalm Road, south of Edmore, when she failed to negotiate the curves in the road, police said. She lost control of her vehicle, which left the road to the right, crossed Wyman Road, and struck a tree. The impact was on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Sexton was pronounced dead at the scene around 8:11 p.m. Dec. 7, according to a news release. She was wearing a seat belt.

Authorities say two people are dead after a minivan crashed and burned along an icy southwestern Michigan roadway. The crash happened about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in Kalamazoo County's Oshtemo Township. One person was killed and three more were hurt in a head-on car crash north of Battle Creek. A station wagon and minivan were involved in the head-on crash at the intersection of Waubascon and Yawger roads. Waubascon Road is shut down between Morgan and Kirby roads in Bedford Township. The female driver of a station wagon was killed. Two people from the minivan, including a "young girl," were airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, the Enquirer says. A third person from the minivan was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

A man died at a hospital following a car crash in Newaygo County. The wreck happened around 12 a.m. Friday on Main Street near Mechanic Avenue in Fremont. The driver, 41-year-old Michael Poling, crashed his vehicle after having a medical issue, police said. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release from the Fremont Police Department. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
