Police in Aurora shut down the southbound lanes of Interstate 225 on Sunday night after a car struck and killed a pedestrian and then drove off. The crash happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. and the car involved was located sometime after that in a different location. The driver was described as being a female. The highway was shut down for several hours from Interstate 70 to Colfax. The name of the victim so far hasn’t been released.

A woman died Sunday morning after her car hydroplaned on I-40 in Wilson County and crashed into a garbage truck. Tennessee Highway Patrol officials say 25-year-old Charity Williams was driving on I-40 westbound near mile marker 245 when her car hydroplaned, sending her across the median into oncoming traffic. Officials say Williams's car hit an oncoming garbage nearly head on. She was ejected from her car and killed. The accident happened just before 8 a.m. Eastbound traffic was affected and cleared by 11:00 a.m.

A Dover man was arrested Sunday after police in Middletown said he drove drunk, crashed a stolen vehicle into the Hurst building on South Union Street and then fled the scene of the crash. Rueben Jason Estrada, 30, of the 3300 block of Village Court Drive, was arrested in the vicinity of a 7-11 store on East Main Street after the incident occurred around 2 a.m., police said. The crash caused serious damage to the building, located at 29 South Union Street, according to authorities. Estrada also did not have permission to drive the vehicle involved in the incident, police said.

A Lockport man is accused of driving drunk and then trying to flee the scene after a rollover crash on Lower Mountain Road on Sunday. Aaron McMichael, 32, of Upper Mountain Road was charged by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies with driving while intoxicated, failure to use designated lane, moving from a lane unsafely, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and refusal to take a breath test.

Newport News Police have charged a mother with DWI after a crash Sunday night. Newport News Police stated that officers were dispatched to the area of 48th Street and Roanoke Avenue around 9:40 p.m. for a report of a possible accident. There, they found a vehicle in the bushes surrounding a cell tower on the south side of 48th Avenue. Eley said the driver and her three children were in the middle of the intersection. All were cleared medically but the driver had an odor of alcohol.
