A motorcyclist was killed and a passenger hurt Sunday night when the vehicle veered into a ditch and then hit a tree, police said.

About 8:15 p.m., Christopher Bennett, 44, of Ozark was riding a 2013 Harley Davidson north on Arkansas 23 about 5 miles south of Ozark in Franklin County when he failed to negotiate a curve in the highway, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Authorities say the motorcycle crossed the median, went into a ditch, traveled a short distance and then hit a tree.

One teen was killed and another injured Sunday after an all-terrain vehicle hit a tree in El Dorado. Arkansas State Police say it happened shortly after 6 p.m. as Antquese D. Frazier, 19, operated a 2003 Yamaha ATV south on Lakeland Street near Houston Street. According to an accident report, the ATV went out of control and was overcorrected. It then hit a tree. A passenger on the vehicle, 18-year-old Shakena L. Ford of El Dorado, died from unspecified injuries.

A driver was killed and two passengers hurt early Friday when a sport utility vehicle overturned on Interstate 40 in Crittenden County.

The single-vehicle accident happened about 2:50 a.m. near the 270 mile marker west of West Memphis.

According to an Arkansas State Police report, 57-year-old Jerry L. White of Memphis was driving a 2001 Nissan Xterra east on the highway when the vehicle went out of control and crossed the median.

Police say the SUV then overturned, ejecting White and passenger Carlos Carter, 51, of Memphis.

Police in Pine Bluff say the suspected driver in a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a teenager has been arrested. Police told reporters that 14-year-old Charles Jones was killed Friday night when he was struck while crossing U.S. 79 on the city's south side. Police say witnesses reported that the driver left the scene -- but a car matching the description of the one that struck Jones was later found and the suspected driver arrested early Saturday.

Arkansas State Police say two teenagers were killed in a single-vehicle crash in Northwest Arkansas.

Authorities say the wreck happened Sunday night on Old Springtown Road in Gentry. According to a preliminary report, 19-year-old Zachary Long of Siloam Springs and 19-year-old Shawn Hurt of Gentry were traveling in a sport utility vehicle when the vehicle went off the road and into an embankment.

Two people were killed and a third injured Wednesday after a driver moved to pass another vehicle in the opposing lane and hit an oncoming car, police said.

It happened about 6:30 p.m. on Arkansas 365 near Plantation Drive in Faulkner County.

Arkansas State Police say Mary M. Lasker, 65, of Conway was driving a 2009 Pontiac Vibe south in the northbound lanes as she attempted to pass other southbound traffic. The Vibe then struck the front of a northbound 2005 Buick LeSabre, according to a report.

A 26-year-old Fayetteville man was killed Sunday afternoon when his car "traveled underneath a trailer and struck several trees along the highway," the Arkansas State Police said.

Ray C. Townley of Alma was driving a Kenworth truck about 1:55 p.m. on U.S. 412 in Siloam Springs when the truck turned in front of a car driven Matthew Tanner Rundle onto Fairmount Road, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary crash report.

An 18-year-old woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident Friday evening in Pine Bluff.

Artisha Rainey was driving a 2005 Kia Spectra southbound on Hazel Street at a high rate of speed, according to two witnesses, when at about the 3500 block she apparently lost control of the car, started to fishtail and skidded onto the east side of the roadway, according to a Pine Bluff Police Department spokesman. The car left the roadway, crashed through a wooden fence and struck a tree.

A single-vehicle wreck Wednesday night in Columbia County left a man dead and four people injured, the Arkansas State Police said.

A 1999 Ford truck driven by Blaine Acklin, 22, of Magnolia was driving west on Columbia County Road 53 about 11 p.m. when the pickup failed to negotiate a curve, left the road and hit a tree, according to a preliminary state police accident report.

A passenger, Austin Blake Glass, 19, of Emerson, was pronounced dead early Thursday at Magnolia Regional Medical Center, state police said.
