The motorcyclist who died Saturday after crashing into an SUV and a pole in San Marcos was identified as Mark Robert McHose, the Medical Examiner’s Office said Sunday.

The 47-year-old of Encinitas was eastbound on Mission Road when he collided with a northbound GMC Yukon at the Pico Avenue intersection about 1:30 p.m., authorities said.

McHose was thrown from his bike, which then crashed into a light pole.

He was taken to Palomar Medical Center and died shortly after arriving.

A U.S. Marine was killed and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Interstate 8 in near state Route 163, authorities said.

The crash was on the westbound side of I-8 about 5 a.m., according to the CHP. One of the vehicles crashed into a barrier and another three cars slammed into it.

The Medical Examiner's Office stated that person killed in the crash, later identified as Ricky Jones, was a 20-year-old, active-duty Marine.

Drunk driving is believed to be the cause of a deadly wrong-way crash involving three vehicles in the Winchester area of Riverside County Saturday night. The fatal incident occurred at the intersection of Leon Road and Domenigoni Parkway around 10:10 p.m. Gerardo Cornejo, 20, of Nuevo was driving a 1994 Honda Civic westbound in the eastbound lane when he slammed head-on into a 2007 Suzuki RX4. That's when the 20-year-old spun around, and was hit by a Dodge Ram pickup truck.
