Authorities say three children were taken to a hospital for evaluation of minor injuries after an accident involving a school bus and a snow plow in Portsmouth. Police say the driver of a private plow failed to stop at the end of Middle Road and struck a school bus at the intersection of Union Street just before 8 a.m. Wednesday. There were as many as 55 students on the bus and three were taken to Newport Hospital. The uninjured students were put on another bus and continued on to school. The crash remains under investigation. No names were released.

A 24-year-old woman from Pawcatuck is in critical condition following a rollover crash on Route 95 in Rhode Island, police said.

According to Rhode Island State Police, Amy Sherman, of the Pawcatuck village of Stonington, was seriously injured after losing control of her car on Route 95 southbound in Hopkinton, R.I., near the Connecticut border.

Police said Hopkinton was driving at a high rate of speed when she began passing other cars and lost control. The crash happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
