Three South Dakota cattlemen and a former star Gettysburg athlete were killed in a plane crash late Sunday night near Highmore. The plane encountered heavy fog and crashed into a wind turbine, officials said Monday. Killed were: • Brent Beitelspacher, who would have turned 38 on Monday, of Bowdle. • Logan Rau, 25, of Java. • Donald “D.J.” Fischer, 30, of Gettysburg. • Nick Reimann, 33, of Ree Heights.

8-year-old and 9-year-old girls injured, taken to hospital, after their Leigh School bus overturns on a county road in Leigh, Nebraska

Authorities say two girls were injured following a school bus crash in Stanton County. The Stanton County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened Friday morning near Norfolk. The girls, ages 8 and 9, were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Additional information was not released. Authorities say the bus was carrying 20 students and headed to a school in nearby Leigh. The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled onto its side into a creek bed. A third student was treated at the Leigh school for possible injuries from the crash.
