Two people were critically hurt after a car crashed head-on into a semi-truck near Washington.

Sherlene Olaguez, 55, was driving north Friday evening on Interstate 15 when she "might have suffered a medical condition, which caused her to lose control of her vehicle," said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Lawrence Hopper. About 7:55 p.m., Olaguez crossed into the southbound lanes, where she crashed head-on into a semi near mile marker 13, the trooper said.

28-year-old Ashley Taft Bailey’s blood alcohol level tested at 0.15, or nearly twice the legal limit for driving of 0.08. Earlier, deputies reported having found an open bottle of alcohol in the eastbound Ford Fusion Bailey was driving when it crossed the center line and collided with a Chevrolet Cruze near mile marker 31.

A pedestrian died Saturday night when a motorcycle struck him in Capitol Reef National Park.

Christopher Gillette, 35, of Bountiful, was walking east on State Road 24 about 6 miles east of Torrey when a motorcycle, also eastbound struck him from behind, said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Lawrence Hopper.

Gillette was wearing a headlamp but was facing away from the motorcyclist, who did not see Gillette in the darkness, Hopper said.
