Police say a snowmobiler has died after being struck by another snowmobile in Washtenaw County. The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Thursday in York Township, about 35 miles southwest of Detroit. State police Sgt. Mark Thompson says two snowmobilers were riding on a road, with one following the other, and the first driver fell off and was struck by the second snowmobile. Thompson says the driver of the first snowmobile died at the scene.

A man was hurt Sunday when the snowmobile he was riding on crashed and he was thrown from the vehicle. It happened around 6 a.m. on the eastern shoreline of Magician Lake in Silver Creek Township, northwest of Dowagiac, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Police have released the name of a Wisconsin man who died in a weekend snowmobile crash in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. State police say 37-year-old Chad Schlenvoght of Port Washington died following the crash about 2 a.m. Sunday in Dickinson County's Breitung Township. The site is about two miles northwest of Iron Mountain in the western Upper Peninsula.

Authorities in southwestern Michigan say a 45-year-old man was killed when his snowmobile collided with a parked motor vehicle. The Van Buren County sheriff’s department says the crash happened about 9:15 p.m. Saturday in Columbia Township. It’s about 25 miles northeast of Benton Harbor. The sheriff identified the victim as Scott Friend of Decatur. The sheriff says deputies believe that Friend was riding along a road when he struck the back of a vehicle parked along the road.

Authorities say one snowmobiler was killed and another seriously hurt in a crash in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Luce County Sheriff's Deputy Steven Kellogg said two groups of snowmobiles were riding a trail in McMillan Township on Wednesday afternoon when the leaders from each group collided at a sharp corner. Sheriff's officials say 43-year-old Timothy Hearld of Larwill, Ind., died at the scene. Forty-year-old Joseph Brandel of Milford, Ohio, was flown to a hospital in his home state with serious injuries.

An 18-year-old Oakland University freshman from Macomb County died in a snowmobile crash this weekend. Eric Pauli died Sunday in Higgins Lake, according to his uncle, Tom Schaffer of Shelby Township. A press release from the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office said poor conditions and limited visibility appear to have been contributing factors in the crash. Several snowmobiles had been traveling together when Pauli was thrown from his snowmobile. He was taken to a Saginaw hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The Michigan State Police in Wakefield reported that Chad E. Kiefer, of Lafayette, Indiana, died when he failed to negotiate a curve on his snowmobile. The snowmobile left the embankment, hit the roadway, crossed M-28, and then continued across the road. The accident occurred on January 19 on Trail #8, east of Ewen in Ontonagon County, Michigan. Alchohol may have been a factor.

Authorities say a man has died following a weekend snowmobile crash in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula. 31-year-old Jeffery D. Wright died Saturday after the crash in Wexford County's Clam Lake Township. Investigators say he lost control, and went off a trail and down an embankment before hitting trees. The crash happened about 35 miles southeast of Traverse City. Wright is identified as being from Vicksburg, southeast of Kalamazoo.

Authorities say weather likely is to blame for a fatal snowmobile crash in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula. 50-year-old Nick Allen Potter was found pinned this week under a snowmobile in a parking lot at Echo Township Hall, located in Antrim County about 30 miles northeast of Traverse City. Cause of death was listed as traumatic asphyxia.
