Charleston, SCJoseph Polite of North Charleston died at 2 a.m. after the grey 2008 Ford Explorer he was driving east on S.C. Highway 162 went off the right side of the road and struck a tree at around 1:30 a.m. Polite suffered fatal injuries despite wearing a seatbelt.

Charleston, SCAuthorities say black Chevrolet S-10 was northbound on County Line Road just after 7:00 Saturday morning when it crossed over the southbound lane before veering off the road and striking a tree. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
