A pedestrian was struck and killed in Pinole on Thursday evening by a suspected drunken driver who also collided head-on with another car, police said Friday. A Contra Costa County coroner’s deputy identified the pedestrian as 25-year-old Diego Garcia of Pinole. Police said Garcia was struck and killed while walking on a sidewalk on Appian Way near Marlesta Road at about 6:10 p.m. Thursday. A 32-year-old El Sobrante woman was driving north on Appian Way when she lost control of her car and crashed head-on into a car in a southbound lane, according to police.
