Speed may have been the cause of an accident that took a teenager's life at the intersection of Fern Valley Road and Fern Valley Pass at approximately 3:20 p.m. 15-year-old Ernesto Perez-Avila apparently lost control at a high-rate of speed and crashed into the supports of a railroad crossing gate, causing his vehicle to overturn. Perez-Avila was not wearing a seat belt, and was declared dead at the scene.
