A crash occured on northbound Highway 45 near W. Wisconsin Avenue, causing a three mile backup. The accident occured on Wednesday afternoon, October 22, in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and was cleared just before 1:00 p.m.

A 22-year-old man was killed after the pickup truck he was driving struck a house in central Wisconsin. The house was hit at about 2:40 a.m. Saturday on Highway 45 near the village of Birnamwood. Three people inside the house did not require medical attention at the scene. The driver, who lived in Birnamwood, died on the scene and a 21-year-old male passenger from Wittenberg was flown by helicopter to a hospital. His condition is not currently known.

The woman who died in a three-vehicle crash Friday in Bristol near the Wisconsin-Illinois state line has been identified by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department as Kathryn E. Kowalczyk, of Trevor. In the crash, a car driven by Sandor Katona, 81, of Zion drove westbound on Highway WG through a red light and collided with a northbound on Highway 45 semi truck driven by Steven Foote, 44, of Dodge Center, Minn., according to information from the Sheriff’s Department.

More than 30 vehicles piled up on an icy highway in Milwaukee County.

Two trucks, two buses and other vehicles were involved in the crash on Highway 45 in Wauwatosa about 10:30 p.m. Monday.

The sheriff's department says only one person was injured.

A return to freezing temperatures made the roads slick and had sheriff's deputies responding to 43 crashes in Milwaukee County between 10 p.m. Monday and 2 a.m. Tuesday.

A van transporting a Milwaukee County inmate to the Stanley prison has slipped off a highway and overturned, injuring two people.

Winnebago County sheriff's officials say the van slid off Highway 45 near Winneconne Tuesday morning.

Milwaukee County sheriff's authorities say the inmate, being taken to the Stanley Correctional Institution, was injured as well as the driver of the van, a contract security officer. A second officer in the van was not hurt. But, all three were taken to a hospital in Oshkosh.

Kenosha County authorities have identified the driver of a Toyota Camry who crashed into a school bus Thursday as 35-year-old Shawn Hudon of the Paddock Lake, according to a release. Hudon remains at Froedtert Hospital in critical but stable condition. He was taken to the hospital via Flight for Life with serious injuries after rear-ending the bus as it was letting off a student on Highway 45 in the Town of Paris around 3:40 p.m. The crash is still under investigation.

Authorities have shut down Highway 45 near Fond du Lac after a series of crashes were reported.

The north-south highway has been closed in both directions at the Hwy 151 intersection just south of the city.

Fond du Lac fire department reports that they, along with crews from the Town of Fond du Lac, have responded to the scene and have closed the highway until further notice.
