Just after 2:30 p.m., William Atherton, 67, was riding a motorcycle westbound on Kentucky Highway 30 when he veered off the roadway and into an embankment, throwing both him and his wife Julia Atherton, 65, from the bike. Both were taken to the hospital via helicopter, but William was eventually pronounced dead while Julia was listed in stable condition.
