A girl of 16 was taken to UF Health Jacksonville to treat life-threatening injuries Monday after being hit by a car while crossing the road. The girl was crossing within a crosswalk at Lem Turner Road at Leonid Road around 6:30 a.m. Monay morning, October 20 when the 75-year-old driver, who had a green light, did not see her. The 16-year-old girl's backpack was found at the intersection, though police are unsure where she goes to school. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
