It was about 9:33 a.m. when a huge pileup invovling three semi-trucks and six other vehicles took place on eastbound I-94. Eleven people were hospitalized two of which had to be extricated from their vehicles, and two of them were said to be in unstable condition. The cause of the pileup is still unknown; check back for udpates.

On Interstate 26 between exits 106 and 104 a 10-vehicle crash occured that included a gasoline tanker. The tanker was carrying 8,500 gallons of fuel at the time of the crash, and some of it began to spill after the collision, causing many of the vehicles to catch fire.

At about 11:00am, a car that was on the ramp from westbound I-74 to northbound I-77 attempted to make a u-turn and was struck by a semi truck, which was then struck by a second semi truck. The collision caused one of the trucks to leak fuel and catch fire, and two victims were sent to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
