According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department, John Snyder was driving north on M-37, also known as Cherry Valley Avenue, when he lost control of his 1997 Oldsmobile 88LS after running into slush on the shoulder. The Oldsmobile then went back on the road, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a 2014 Honda Pilot head-on. The driver of the Honda, a 38-year-old Caledonia man, and his passenger were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were believed to be non-life-threatening. Snyder, 75, and his passenger Marlene Snyder, 73, were pronounced dead at the scene.
