Utica, NYA Massachusetts woman was killed and a Vermont woman injured when their vehicle crashed in Richfield, New York, and landed in a stream. Kaitlin Mercier, 20, of Huntington, Massachusetts, was driving east on Route 20 around 7:30 a.m. Thursday when she ran onto the shoulder, collided with a guiderail, went airborne, and landed upside-down in shallow water in a stream. Amanda Conley, 22, of Brattleboro, Vermont, was able to climbed out and flagged down help. Conley was treated for a broken leg at Bassett Medical Center.
