Jacksonville, FLA 2001 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Ronald L. Thomas of Palatka was southbound on US 17 at around 10:15 Sunday night when a 2008 Honda motorcycle rear-ended the Blazer. The SUV slid into the grass median and flipped, rolling over several times before coming to a rest. Thomas was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the rollover. He was flown to UF Health Gainesville in serious condition. The motorcycle also overturned several times after the impact, and the rider, Shane Eric Guidry of Palatka, was dead at the scene. Speed was apparently a factor.

Jacksonville, FLShortly before 3:00pm, a the driver of a southbound pickup truck struck a stop-sign, drove over the median, and hit an SUV in the northbound lanes. The collision killed the driver and a dachsund that were in the pickup, as well as a passenger in the SUV. Two other people in the SUV were also injured, the driver and another passenger who was listed in critical condition.
