Troopers said the incident happened on White Horse Road at Old White Horse Road at 2:18 a.m.
Adrian S. Smith, 27, died at the scene from blunt force trauma to the chest.

Friday, December 20, 2013An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was hit and killed.
According to the Greenville County Coroner's Office, just before 6:45 Saturday evening, 39-year-old Lamont Turner was struck by a vehicle on North Pleasantburg Drive near Worley Road.
Turner was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy is set for Monday to determine a cause of death.

Friday, December 6, 2013The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash early Sunday morning.
The Greenville County coroner, said Stephen Richard Hughes, 55, of Greenville, was struck while crossing the southbound lanes near 3704 White Horse Rd.
According to police, the crash happened around Saturday night at 11:50 p.m.
Jones said Summer Powell was driving a Honda that struck the pedestrian. Troopers said a second vehicle also struck the pedestrian but left the scene.
Troopers are now looking for the second driver.
