Tampa-St. Petersburg, FLA 61-year-old Sarasota County man was hit and killed Friday night while cross US 41 near Sunset Beach Dr. Leonard D. Gebhardt was pronounced dead at the crash site just before 10 pm. Gebhardt ran out in front of a 2010 Dodge Caravan driven by Kenneth K. Kubic of Venice. The vehicle struck Gebhardt knocking him into the southbound lanes. Kubic, 75, was not injured in the collision. The initial crash report states the driver was not impaired. It is not yet known of Gebhardt was impaired pending the outcome of a toxicology report.Check back for more information as it becomes available.

Ft. Myers-Naples, FL A 30 year old male driver from Port Charlotte, injured in a car accident on US 41 in the inside left turn lane for Bayshore Road in Charlotte County FL. He was ejected from the vehicle after hitting the curbed median and losing control causing the vehicle to land on its side. He was taken to Bayfront Port Charlotte.
