Edmond Mallette Jr. was driving southbound on the Sterling Highway when he turned around in the roadway, failing to see an oncoming Alaska State Trooper patrol car. Both vehicles rolled into a ditch on the side of the highway. Both drivers were taken to the hospital for injuries deemed non-life threatening.
