Columbia County Superior Court

 Washington has 39 Superior Courts, one in each of Washington's 39 counties. Superior Courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction in Washington. A Superior Court may consider all civil and criminal matters occurring within a county's boundary. The Superior Court also has exclusive jurisdiction over civil matters in which the amount in controversy is more than $75,000, felony cases, estate and probate matters, family law cases (including divorces and child custody hearings), and juvenile proceedings. They act as a court of appeal for cases from the District and Municipal Courts.  

Columbia County District Court

Washington State district and municipal courts may consider civil and criminal matters related to misdemeanor criminal cases, traffic, non-traffic, and parking infractions, domestic violence protection orders, civil actions of $75,000 or less, and small claims up to $5,000.

Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office

Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office - Cowlitz County Public Records Requests

Within five business days of receipt of the request the county will either: (1) provide the record(s); OR (2) acknowledge the request and provide a reasonable time estimate for the response; OR (3) deny the request. The County will charge a fee of $0.15 per copy plus the cost of mailing. Payment may be required before copying or mailing.

Cowlitz County Jail

The Cowlitz County Corrections Department is a criminal justice agency dedicated to providing and managing progressive correction services in an efficient, effective, and a socially responsible manner. Their goal is to provide cost effective services while maintaining safety for the community, staff, and offenders.

Cowlitz County Prosecuting Attorney

This office prosecutes all felonies in the County, and misdemeanors that occur outside city limits in the unincorporated area of the County or that are violations of state law but not municipal code, including every type of criminal case.  It represents the interests of the people of the State by ensuring that offenders within the county are charged with crimes that accurately reflect the offending conduct, and further, by taking all steps necessary to ensure that the conduct is appropriately punished. It determines what charge to file, when and where to file it, and how best to proceed with it.  It recommends a punishment if the offender is convicted and also handles all appeals from those convictions.
