Tampa-St. Petersburg, FL61-year-old William Gainey was driving a pickup truck on Cypress Gardens Boulevard at about 10:30 p.m. when he failed to slow down for the stop light at the intersection with Lake Ruby Drive and rear-ended a car. Both vehicles were propelled about 150 feet from the collision site, and Gainey's truck flipped onto its roof. The two people in the car that was rear-ended were identified as a father and his son, Christopher and Jayden Ivey, ages 39 and 4. Both were found dead at the scene. Gainey was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.

Ramnarine of Miami was driving north in a Chrysler on Interstate 75 at about 4:37 Sunday morning when she rear-ended a GMC Terrain while nearing the County Road 6/Moccasin Wallow Road exit. The rear-ended SUV then ran off the roadway and overturned onto its roof, killing its driver, Derrell Scruggs, 68, and injuring Naomi Scruggs, 69, who was transported to Blake Medical Center. Ramnarine had three children in her vehicle, ages 5, 3, and 1, all of whom were injured and transported to Lakewood Ranch Hospital.
