Douglas County Public Records Requests
The Douglas County Records Division is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, excluding holidays. Their receptionist handles public contact in person and by phone, transcription and manages the office. Their records technicians process the dissemination of information and daily maintenance of all records, according to strict guidelines provided by law.
Douglas/Chelan Counties Regional Jail
The Chelan County Regional Justice Center is a 383-bed adult correctional facility, located in the city of Wenatchee that serves a population of over 94,000 people and encompasses a geographical area of over 5000 square miles. Satellite buildings include a 42-bed minimum security facility and a 66-bed direct supervision minimum security facility that houses Work Release and Volunteer Inmate Worker participants. Jail staff facilitates court appearances for inmates scheduled for Chelan and Douglas County Superior and District courts.
Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney's Office
The Prosecuting Attorney brings civil cases on behalf of the county and defends lawsuits against the county. The Prosecuting Attorney works closely with law enforcement agencies, such as the Sheriff, city Police and the Washington State Patrol and provides legal advice to law enforcement. Law enforcement agencies send criminal cases to the Prosecuting Attorney for review and the Prosecuting Attorney determines if criminal charges should be filed.
Douglas County Superior Court
Washington has 39 Superior Courts, one in each of Washington's 39 counties. Superior Courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction in Washington. A Superior Court may consider all civil and criminal matters occurring within a county's boundary. The Superior Court also has exclusive jurisdiction over civil matters in which the amount in controversy is more than $75,000, felony cases, estate and probate matters, family law cases (including divorces and child custody hearings), and juvenile proceedings. They act as a court of appeal for cases from the District and Municipal Courts.
Douglas County District Court
Washington State district and municipal courts may consider civil and criminal matters related to misdemeanor criminal cases, traffic, non-traffic, and parking infractions, domestic violence protection orders, civil actions of $75,000 or less, and small claims up to $5,000.
