Cheryl R. Shaffer, 61, killed in crash on Route 34 near Harrisburg, Illinois

One person was killed in a crash on Route 34 in Saline County on Wednesday morning. It happened 1/4 mile south of Womble Road shortly before 6 a.m. According to Illinois State Police, 61-year-old Cheryl R. Shaffer of Rosiclare died in the collision. Police say a tractor trailer saw animals to the side of the road and shifted lanes. Shaffer's car moved to avoid the crash but the tractor trailer moved into the same lane, as well. Both vehicles collided. Shaffer was pronounced at the scene.
