An officer spotted a Honda Civic parked in a fire lane in front of a liquor store and went to investigate. When the driver, Annal Upadhyaya, returned to the vehicle the officer found that he was driving with a suspended license. When a tow truck arrived to take the Honda Civic away, Upadhyaya got in the car and sped away, and the officer pursued him. Upadhyaya later lost control of his vehilce and hit a utility pole. He was ejected and knocked unconcious, and is now hospitalized. Charges against him are pending. More information will be posted as it is released.

Frederick County police say a man is facing charges after he tried to drive his pick-up truck around railroad crossing gates and was struck by a MARC train. It happened Friday at about 5:30 p.m. at E. South Street and the CSX railroad tracks near Hamilton Avenue. Police say the train hit the truck and spun it into a pole. The driver, Frederick Dell Jackson, fled. Police say Jackson, who was later located, was driving on a suspended Georgia license and that he was charged with several offenses related to the crash.
