Just before 8:45 a.m., an ambulance carrying a patient crashed into a school bus from Valpraiso Community Schools. The bus was transporting 59 fifth-graders, 12 of which suffered minor injuries in the crash. Two ambulance employees and the patient in the ambulance were taken to local hospitals. Witnesses say the ambulance did not have emergency lights or sirens on at the time of the crash. The 23-year-old driver of the ambulance was driving with a suspended license.
