A teenager identified as Matthew Payne was driving a moped on Seventh Street when he somehow lost control and crashed into the curb, causing him to be thrown from the vehicle. He is being treated at the hospital for what has been described as a traumatic head injury, though neither Payne's exact age nor more details on his condition were available. He was not wearing a helmet during the crash.

It was about 7:50 a.m. when 11-year-old Joshua Romero was riding his bicycle to the west on Monte Vista Avenue, and he was struck by a vehicle driven by Kurt Warner, 62, at the intersection with Lester Road. As cyclists and drivers on Monte Vista have a stop sign at that intersection, Warner technically had the right-of-way. Romero, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown to the ground, and suffered a major leg-injury, while Warner was uninjured.

14-year-old Joel Stephen Howell was riding an ATV to the north on Jaguar Drive at about 7:45 a.m. when he failed to properly negotiate a curve in the road, hit the curb, and was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet, sustained critical injuries, and has since been transported to UF Health Jacksonville.

10-year-old Chad Andrews was driving a miniature dirt bike west on 20th Street East, but failed to stop at the stop sign at 2nd Avenue East and drove right into the side of a southbound Honda motorcycle driven by Daniel Kendrick, 43. Andrews was thrown from his bike and critically injured; he remains in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center. Kendrick and his passenger Tameashia Robinson, 31, both sustained serious injuries and were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital. None of the people involved were wearing helmets at the time.
