At about 7:30 p.m., some police officers at Chatsworth and Cornwall Street noticed that one of two men entering a car had a handgun, and attempted to stop them. The men sped away, and police pursued for just over a minute before backing off. Moments later, the suspect's car crashed into a porch on Nottingham Street going over 70 miles per hour, and struck five children and one adult. All victims were taken to the hospital, but two of the children, identified as Michael Angelo Jackson, 7, and his half-sister Makiah Jackson, 3, were pronounced dead.
