35-year-old April Wilson was found to be under the influence of alcohol when she was driving her car on South Broadway and side-swiped a motorcyclist at the intersection with First Avenue. The collision occured at about 2:00 a.m., and the motorcyclist, identified only as a 27-year-old man, was thrown from his bike into trash can, parking meter, and bicycle rack. After being brought to the hospital with severe injuries, the man eventually died.

10-year-old Chad Andrews was driving a miniature dirt bike west on 20th Street East, but failed to stop at the stop sign at 2nd Avenue East and drove right into the side of a southbound Honda motorcycle driven by Daniel Kendrick, 43. Andrews was thrown from his bike and critically injured; he remains in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center. Kendrick and his passenger Tameashia Robinson, 31, both sustained serious injuries and were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital. None of the people involved were wearing helmets at the time.

The motorcyclist and the driver of the car were both taken to Upstate University Hospital, though the motorcyclist was in critical condition while the car driver only sustained non-life threatening injuries.
