On March 12, a Michigan State Police trooper and dispatch trainee were in a cruiser that was parked on the side of Interstate 75 near the Caniff Avenue exit for a separate traffic incident when the cruiser was struck by a pickup going approximately 70 mph. The trooper's face was cut and his arm injured in the accident, while the dispather sustained a back injury. The pickup driver was't injured in the crash but was cited for failure to yield to a stationary emergency vehicle and careless driving.
