At around 8 a.m. a tanker truck was traveling on Highway 82 when one of its axles broke. The truck spilled liquid magnesium chloride, a chemical used to melt snow and ice on roadways, onto the road. The chemical isn't classified as a hazardous material, and was not considered a danger to waterways, but a hazmat crew was called to help with the clean up because of how much of the fluid was involved. The road was closed for several hours while the clean-up took place.
